Having practiced in the field of workers' compensation injuries for over 25 years we have represented thousands of injured workers including those injured in industrial plants throughout western Pennsylvania. In Pennsylvania, particularly western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio many people's lives are dependent on the factories and mills. At one point Allegheny County, Beaver County, Lawrence County, Mercer County, Fayette County, Westmoreland County, and Washington County all had thriving factories. Many still do. If you or a loved one are injured in an industrial accident you may be entitled to workers' compensation (workmens compensation, workmens compensation). A spokesperson from the fire department told news reporters that three people were injured and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
This past April, Republic Steel conceded to pay nearly two and a half million dollars in fines for health and safety violations at four of its industrial plants, including the plant in Lorain. the fine was assessed after an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) audit of its facilities. The Lorain plant had only been reopened within the last year after being closed down for several years.
