Man suffers work-related injuries in forklift accident

When a worker in Pennsylvania is required to use heavy equipment to fulfill his or her job responsibilities, there is a potential of being involved in an accident involving serious injury. Unfortunately, a recent accident in another state has resulted in work-related injuries. The worker's injuries are said to be due to an accident involving a forklift.

The accident reportedly occurred one afternoon on a day in late July. Rescue workers were called to the scene after receiving reports of a man who has trapped under a forklift while in the water. According to reports, the 47-year-old victim, an employee of a seafood company, was driving a forklift on a pier when he is said to have backed through a wooden barrier.

Both the worker and the forklift went down an embankment before landing in the water. The operator was reportedly pinned underneath the forklift though he was above the level of water. Rescue workers were able to extricate the man with airbags. He was then flown to the hospital to receive treatment for a head injury.

Many workers in Pennsylvania and across the country are dedicated to doing a good job; however, while doing so, they may face dangers that could ultimately result in work-related injuries. Often, these injuries come with financial consequences due to lost wages and medical costs. In some cases, victims are never able to return to work in the same capacity. As a result, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits, which can help with a variety of financial consequences stemming from such an accident. An experienced professional can help guide a worker through the process, allowing him or her to concentrate fully on recovery.
