There are many safe workers in Pennsylvania who always follow safety recommendations. Unfortunately, even safe workers can be involved in a workplace accident when unexpected events happen. For example, officials in another state claim that a man working at an industrial laundry company suffered fatal work-related injuries.
The incident happened at a business called Ecodirect, which specializes in cleaning hotel linens. According to reports, co-workers last saw the 42-year-old male victim around 9:30 p.m. Soon after, surveillance footage shows the man attempting to remove a towel that had become stuck. The video then shows the conveyor belt stopping, which is when police suspect that the man became entrapped.
After noticing that the washer and dryer had stopped, another employee investigated and discovered the man's body, trapped between the conveyor belt and dryer. Paramedics came to the scene but were unable to find any signs of life. An autopsy indicates that the man's death was accidental and caused by head injuries.
Unfortunately, a family is now likely mourning the unexpected death of their loved one. In addition to their grief, they will also have to cope with the financial complications, such as lost wages and funeral expenses, that are often created by fatal work-related injuries. Though they may be entitled to workers' compensation insurance benefits, many people -- especially those who are grieving -- find the process complicated. Fortunately, attorneys with experience with the process and help those who deserve such benefits in Pennsylvania and across the country seek a fair settlement.
