Pittsburgh’s nonprofits responded to COVID-19 in a big way.
Despite the risks, selfless volunteers are working hard to serve the community.
Here are four of our favorite highlights:
1. More than 1,000 Families Fed at PPG Paints Arena: Multiple organizations distributed boxes of food to more than 1,300 vehicles in one day.
2. Allegheny County Helps Locals Access Free Food and Resources: Allegheny County created an interactive map to help the community access free food.
3. Organizations Create and Donate Masks: Organizations like Abram’s Nation and Day Owl converted their facilities to produce masks.
4. Food Pantries Adapt to the Coronavirus Threat: Food banks like Beaver County’s Faith Restorations continue to provide support by switching to curbside pickups.
We’re thrilled to see this sort of selfless volunteering in Pittsburgh. Are there any nonprofits you’d like to highlight?
