A man was injured in an industrial accident at a Derry Township concrete fabrication plant on Monday. He was Life-Flighted to a hospital in Monroeville Monday afternoon shortly after he became pinned beneath the forklift he was operating.
The plant, A.C. Miller Products, is located just off of State Route 22 in Derry Township, Westmoreland County. Rescue crews were called to the scene at approximately 2 p.m. when an emergency 911 dispatcher took the call.
By the time rescue efforts arrived at A.C. Miller the man had been freed by coworkers. State police, local police, and several different fire departments came to the man's aid before he was taken to the Community United Presbyterian Church on Keystone Park Road in New Alexandria and then Life-Flighted to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.
When contacted, no one from A.C. Miller was available to speak to reporters. There is no word on whether or not OSHA will be called in to investigate or if the forklift the man was using malfunctioned. His condition is still unknown, but police did say that it appeared as though he was suffering from serious injuries.
