Pennsylvania aims to reduce construction zone accidents

Every year in Pennsylvania, tragic accidents claim the lives of construction workers or leave them seriously injured. To make things worse, many of these accidents are completely preventable. Such incidents often occur to inadequate workplace safety measures, poor training or someone's negligence. Sadly, it is often innocent people who pay the price.

In Pennsylvania, accidents on roadway construction zones have led to the development of a new initiative to help protect workers. All too often, employees working in these zones are severely injured or even killed by speeding or inattentive motorists. It can also pose a threat to occupants of the vehicles themselves. As a result, state legislators are considering a pilot project to reduce the risk to workers in these construction zones.

The proposed initiative would involve the installation of speed cameras in these zones which would only be active when work was underway. The hope is that this would deter drivers from going too fast in these areas. While this may reduce the frequency of such accidents, workers may still be at risk. However, those who do become victims of these incidents may be able to claim compensation for the harm they have suffered.

If you or a loved one have been injured in an accident at work, you may be faced with several medical and financial worries. Not only could your recovery take time and prevent you from returning to work, medical bills can soon mount up. Fortunately, a successful workers' compensation claim could help to cover the costs. An attorney may be able to assist you with your claim and help you pursue the support and remuneration you deserve during your recovery.
