The Jeep was driven by a 64-year-old woman who was transporting her 90-year-old mother to an unknown location. The man driving the pickup was not wear a seat belt at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center for surgery. It is there that he died shortly after arriving.
According to the coroner, the 90-year-old Jeep passenger sustained multiple traumatic injuries and blunt force trauma to the head. She died at the scene of the wreck due to blunt force trauma. Her daughter was also injured and was taken to Memorial Medical Center where her internal injuries and broken bones were treated. It is reported that she will make a full recovery. The car accident caused PA Route 271 to be shut down for several hours while the scene was attended to and surveyed by an accident reconstructionist. It is currently unknown what caused the pick-up to cross the center line and the accident is currently under investigation.
